Tail Spray

50 XP when a coach verifies it

What it is

A good combination of pressing and understanding of tension in the line is key to carving on the very tip of your board!

How to do it

  1. Begin with gentle heelside edge
  2. Gently apply increasing pressure directly on back foot
  3. Slightly angle the board at around 45º
  4. Keep arm strong, and use tension to hold you in position
  5. Increase edge and weight intensity
  6. Use back hand to drag in water for extra stability
  7. Progress to corner

Common problems

  • Can't hold the spray: Make sure to progressively increase the pressure on the tail. Don't try to drop straight into it
  • Getting pulled over the front: Keep your front arm and core strong. Start off by practicing on the straight before progressing to the corner

Tracking your progress on this skill arrives with goals (task 2.6).
