Landing in Banks
50 XP when a coach verifies it
What it is
Learning how to correctly ride down banks can be a real life saver at the wake park! If you've tried before you will have probably quickly learnt how easy it is to slip out... Let's take a look at the easy way to ride away from landing into a bank!
How to do it
- Get on the feature with the bank you want to learn
- When coming down the bank point the nose of your board in the direction that your body is going to move in (Usually around 45º)
- Shift your weight so that your shoulders and body is matching the angle of the bank
- Stay low and keep your nose pointing in the direction of body movement until you make it down on to the water
Common problems
- I slip out every time I try to ride down a bank. Chances are you are standing too tall and your board is not facing the direction your body is travelling in (45º-90º should really help)
- I take an edge when my board meets the water. At the bottom of the bank you need to correct your board direction to match the direction you will be moving on the water. If you keep your board at too much of an angle you will get caught up and fall.
