Ollies

20 XP when a coach verifies it

What it is

The Ollie is one of the most important skills you can learn and the best part about it is you can try it literally anywhere around the cable! Make sure to continully practice this one as it will get better with time!

How to do it

  1. Start with both knees slightly bent whilst you are riding straight.
  2. Use your front foot to push down into the water and allow the board to pop up (try to avoid "pre popping")
  3. Pull your knees up under you
  4. Absorb landing and ride away

Common problems

  • I try to pop but I lose my balance. Make sure to stay nice and low in preparations for the ollie. If you have straight legs it can easily make you lose balance.
  • I dont get much height on my ollies. Play around and see how using your edge to pop vs. the flat base of the board can improve your ollie height.
  • Make sure to avoid pulling on the handle. Hold some tension through your front arm and then use your legs to create the pop.

What your coach looks for

Perform an ollie by popping the board off the water using your legs, lifting both the nose and tail cleanly off the surface.
