Frontside Powerslides

20 XP when a coach verifies it

What it is

Turn your board 90º and keep your toes up! Learning how to correctly powerslide without relying on the handle for balance is a great way to learn to unlock your hips and can really help when it comes to learning rails!

How to do it

  1. Ride in a neutral position with the handle in your front arm
  2. Keeping your arm straight, move the handle to the centre of your hips
  3. Stay low, keep both knees bent and apply a little bit of pressure on your heels
  4. Hold the position, and avoid pulling on the handle

Common problems

  • I keep falling back. This means that you are pulling on the handle. Remember to keep your arm straight.
  • I take a front edge. Make sure to keep both knees bent and your chest up!
  • I can't hold the position. Keep practicing, make sure to be the one in control with the handle, and don't let the cable turn you.

What your coach looks for

Perform a controlled frontside powerslide by releasing your edge and sliding the board sideways across the water while maintaining balance and control.
