Spotting Kickers

Here's a question for you: If you had to jump off a chair, would you rather do it with a blindfold or no blindfold? Wakeboarding is no different! Being able to easily and reliably know exactly when you are going to land can help your body make adjustments. If you are not looking in the right places you might find yourself floating through space so to speak!

  • Pick a spot around 1 or 2 meters in front of you which is going to serve as your reference point for landings
  • Minimize any time spent in the "disorientation zone"
  • Keep your eyes looking where you are going!
  • Practice watching your reference point as much as possible when coming down for landings

Common problems

  • Don't close your eyes... EVER!
  • If you find yourself frequently disorientated, really try to actively pay attention to what is happening and thinking about how you can change it.
  • Don't look too far ahead, you woldn't jump off the chair looking at the horizon!
